Collection Statement

A voice whispers softly in her ear. Her gaze drifts and she scans the horizon, seeking a stranger’s face but finding only her own distorted image in the reflection of a tidal pool.  A word lingers on the tip of her tongue as memories float through her mind’s eye like clouds across a summer sky. Aromatic scents of turmeric and masala emanate from a far-off kitchen. The mistress of spices prepares a feast while children scamper amongst the mangosteen and frangipani trees. Hints of sandalwood, vetiver, bergamot, ginger, and turmeric punctuate her consciousness. She wakes from her reverie, she has come full circle, she returns to her roots, and finally embraces that which for so long had eluded her—herself.

In this state of dreamy wistfulness, Annahmol presents our debút collection, Saudade. Saudade: that indolent, poignant melancholy for that which no longer exists, a vague and constant sense of incompleteness. Saudade, the most romantic word in the Brazilian vernacular. It envelopes your heart in a blanket of fondness and longing, of love lost, of time past—a reminder that what you seek lives vividly in your mind, yet you cannot grasp it with your hand.

At the heart of the collection is a celebration of spice: cast cardamom and clove shine brilliantly in defiance of their humble origins, arranged in simple geometries alongside THIS SEED on pendants and dangle earrings. Cast ginko leaves and butterfly wings hang like feathers upon delicate brass wire, while semi-precious stones drop like energetic pendulums gently resonating in accordance with the chakras they govern.

Adjustable brass rings encase raw stone in a gentle embrace, floating above the finger, strong enough to stand on their own and delicate enough for stacking. Statement cocktail rings in bold geometric forms sparkle with druzy stone and brass chokers are elevated with large stones, delicate gold leaves, and double druzy tear drops.
